Notocactus mammulosus (also known now as Parodia mammulosa) is a beautiful little cactus:
🌵 Light:
-
Bright, indirect sunlight is ideal.
-
It can handle some direct sun, especially morning sunlight, but harsh afternoon sun might scorch it.
💧 Watering:
-
Spring to summer: Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry.
-
Fall to winter: Cut back watering a lot — about once a month or even less, depending on how cold it gets.
-
Overwatering = biggest risk (it leads to root rot).
🌡️ Temperature:
-
Loves warmth — 20–30°C (68–86°F) is perfect.
-
Can tolerate cooler temps down to 5°C (41°F) if dry, but no frost exposure.
🌱 Soil:
-
Use well drain soil
-
Feed lightly during the growing season (spring-summer) — once a month with cactus fertilizer diluted to half strength.
-
No feeding during winter.
🪴 Repotting:
-
Every 2–3 years or when it outgrows the pot.
-
Always use a pot with good drainage holes.
🌸 Flowering:
-
Given the right care, it produces beautiful yellow flowers in spring or early summer.
